Clive Vernon A.F.A.

Incorporated Financial Accountant Clive is the principal of the firm and is very much "one of the team". He has been in the accountancy profession for over thirty years and has a wide variety of experience, embracing the professional and commercial environment. This has given him the breadth of knowledge and expertise to assist and support any size of business. In the office he has a strong empathy with the varied client base but when "off duty" he has the misfortune to be a lifelong fan of Tottenham Hotspur F.C.! Apart from virtually all sports, his other interests include appreciating good music and creative writing for fun.

Liz Cryle

Liz has been with Vernon Associates as Practice Manager for a relatively short time but has firmly established herself with the day to day routines of the office. Having worked in the caring profession of nursing for many years and held a variety of senior posts, she has smoothly transferred her organisational skills to the very different arena of small business. Liz likes nothing better than to relax and socialise in the company of good friends and she has also travelled extensively, having lived in Singapore and Australia as well as Perth, Elgin and Aberdeen in Scotland. She is also an experienced practitioner in Occupational Health Nursing and holds the National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.

James Gosling

James joined Vernon Associates in 2003 and has become a key member of the team. He is currently training to qualify as a Certified Accountant and hopes to complete his studies and examinations in 2008. He manages the daily work flow in the office with a style and calmness which is recognised by clients and colleagues alike and he has developed his own empathy with the smaller business which is the trademark of the firm. Away from the office, James is another keen sports "all-rounder", although his blind allegiance to Liverpool F.C. may be a slight question mark against his judgement!

John Robertson F.C.A.

John is a Chartered Accountant with many years' experience who, like Clive, has worked in commerce as well as the profession. Having qualified with a professional Practice, John was Finance Director with a manufacturing company until 2003, following which he preferred to use his experience to help and work on behalf of other small businesses. John's main hobby is as a member - and Treasurer - of Woodley Light Operatic Society. The Society's two or three productions per year are always well supported but he hasn't yet been persuaded to sing in the office...!

Ryan Millward

Cardiff University Physics graduate Ryan is the most recent member to join the growing VA team. Born in Germany, but now settled locally, Ryan expects to commence his formal Certified Accountancy training in 2007 and hopes to qualify within the next 3 to 5 years. Yet another sportsman (but probably more active than his colleagues!), he plays local football to a good standard and hopes to play semi-pro given the chance! He is a qualified football referee and also helps with local boys' football. His family roots are in the north of England, resulting in an unfortunate and otherwise unexplainable support for Bolton Wanderers F.C.!
